With Order At Agan LIVE, the German-Danish band Fosterchild presents their new, third album. Following Fosterchild and Dear Earthling, this live recording captures the raw energy and synthesis of the quintet, the power of the moment, and the emergence of larger musical forms within a focused concert setting.
The set’s seven tracks flow seamlessly into one another, creating a cohesive and organic architecture. The boundary between improvisation and composed material dissolves, giving way to a tonal atmosphere shaped by shared intention and collective authorship at every moment. By deliberately avoiding repetition in any form, the music gains a uniquely process-oriented character that makes it so compelling.
Drawing inspiration from classical Greek tragedy—where the internal and external developments of characters often form the narrative foundation—the album’s pieces are structured in a similar way.
Ideally, both the musicians and listeners reach a state by the end that surpasses all expectations.
The recording was made on February 24, 2023, at the end of an extended tour through Denmark and Germany, at Jazz-Schmiede Düsseldorf—a venue renowned for its excellent acoustics and
atmosphere—which significantly contributes to the album’s intensity and authenticity.
