With "Assemblage", a newly formed band from the Cologne jazz scene introduces itself—bringing with it a name that embodies its very philosophy. Bandleader and drummer Jakob Görris—trained in Cologne and Lisbon and a long-standing fixture of the local scenes—releases his debut album under his own name with this project.

The band’s name is more than just a label; it represents an artistic stance. Originating in the realm of sculpture, "assemblage" describes a technique in which diverse materials and found objects are joined to create a new whole. The band’s music follows this exact principle: various musical contexts, fragments, and influences are juxtaposed, recombined, and constantly reassembled in new ways. Joining Görris are Emilia Gołos (piano), Lucie Graehl (saxophone), and Florian Herzog (double bass)—four voices that audibly embrace this open, process-oriented approach to music.
