Altered Forms Trio return with their second album, Ecstatic Grains, taking further steps into their world of explosive free improvisation with complex, experimental textures bursting at the seams and more than a hint of jazz. The Leipzig-based trio, featuring Gregor Forbes (piano and composition), Robert Lucaciu (contrabass) and Johannes von Buttlar (percussion) is joined in their wild, creative music-making on half of the album by long-time collaborator, electic guitarist Steffi Narr. Their music is bolder, wilder and more intense than ever before, shifting through strange states of consciousness and uncertain moods, and charging forward with a relentless energy.
